Haags Organisch Openlucht Volks Museum (HOOVM)
During the pandemic, when society and our daily lives – including all structures and obligations – came to a halt, the opposite seemed to happen in the forest. There, sculptures appeared out of nowhere: temporary forms of play and imagination woven into everyday life. They emerged and vanished again, anonymous and fleeting. It moved me.
From that realization, I declared the Haagse Bos the Haags Organisch Openlucht Volks Museum (the Hague Organic Open-Air Folk Museum), and appointed myself its curator. Through a performance, I invited visitors to pause and observe sculptures made of branches, tree trunks and moss – created by anonymous makers.
With gratitude to all the anonymous makers who gave form to the HOOVM collection.
